Sonia Seneviratne SAB member

ICOS ERIC appoints Prof. Dr Sonia Seneviratne to its Scientific Advisory Board, SAB. Dr Seneviratne replaces Dr Markus Reichstein who rotated off from the SAB after years of active membership. This rotation schedule was set up to ensure a balanced exchange of the members over the years. The SAB provides external advice to ICOS General Assembly in scientific topics related to greenhouse gases.

Dr Seneviratne is Full Professor for Land-Climate Dynamics at ETH Zurich since 2016. She studied at the University of Lausanne (Biology) and at ETH Zurich (Environmental Physics), where she conducted her PhD thesis between 1999-2002. In her research, Dr Seneviratne analyses climate extremes, land-climate processes, and climate changes. She uses several methods for these investigations: modeling, data analysis, new approaches for the derivation of validation datasets, and own field experiments. Dr Seneviratne is a member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and was a lead author of the Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5ºC. Read more about Dr. Seneviratne and her research on the official website of ETH Zurich.

Welcome, Dr Seneviratne, to the community of ICOS scientists! We are looking forward to working with you.
