We are pleased to announce the sessions for ICOS Science Conference 2026! The conference takes place 15-17 September 2026 in Lund, Sweden and online. The overarching theme of the conference is “Science, Data, Services: Together for Climate Action”

“We received a record-high number of session proposals for the conference this year, which is absolutely great to see!” says Maiju Tiiri from the ICOS Head Office organising team. “The variety of topics was also wide, which shows that the ICOS Science Conference is recognised as a major conference by the greenhouse gas community across the scientific disciplines.”

The session themes reflect ICOS' three domains - Atmosphere, Ecosystem and Ocean - and incorporate broader topics such as climate services, science communication and cooperation between Research Infrastructures. In addition, the Manufacturers session once again offers opportunities for instrument manufacturers and other companies to showcase their latest innovations and developments.

As in previous years, the sessions were proposed by the ICOS community and refined by the Science Conference Programme Committee - a body of climate science experts supported by staff from the ICOS Head Office and the local organising team. New to this Science Conference was the session proposal process. “This year all submitted session proposals were also displayed publicly on our website while the call was still open for new submissions,” highlights Maiju, “which increased the transparency of the process as well as encouraged the community to contribute.”
