ICOS contribution to science
High quality data and related products from ICOS are part of a global system of science and observation that supports the political processes following the Paris Agreement. We provide added value through data from three domains – atmosphere, ecosystem, ocean – that can be combined, which makes cross-comparisons and original research possible.
ICOS data are used by scientists who seek to understand the Earth System and by various governmental bodies and international organisations that need science-based and relevant information on greenhouse gases to support their decision-making and efforts to mitigate the consequences of climate change.

Scientific impact of ICOS
We provide an added value of data from three domains that can be combined, which makes cross-comparisons and original research possible.
Global Carbon Budget
The annually published Global Carbon Budget is a report produced by a community of researchers to announce a global carbon budget quantifying carbon dioxide emissions for the prior year.
ICOS and remote sensing
ICOS measurements are essential information for diverse scientific communities: satellite experts, modellers or developers.
