Open position at ICOS ERIC: Summer Trainee, international event organisation

Do you want to work with topics related to climate change? ICOS, the Integrated Carbon Observation System, measures greenhouse gases to better understand climate change. The data is being used by scientists as well as by governments and international organisations. ICOS is publicly funded by its 16 European member countries.

ICOS organises a the biannual ICOS Science Conference on 14-17 September 2026. The hybrid conference will take place in Lund, Sweden, and online.

We are now looking for a Summer Trainee to support with conference preparations. You will report to the Head of Operations at ICOS.

Your job includes

  • Assisting with management of conference abstracts, registrations and industry representatives in our Vendor expo.
  • Assisting in virtual conference platform management
  • Assisting in social media content creation
  • Participation in the organisation of the conference on-site in Sweden, September 14-18, 2026
  • Some involvement in practical matters and events related to Horizon Europe-funded projects

A successful candidate has

  • Fluency in written and spoken English is crucial – proficiency in Swedish is a strong bonus
  • Systematic and organised ways of working, and ability to tolerate also routine tasks.
  • Some experience and skills in producing content, such as text or pictures to websites and other channels.
  • Good knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint, basic skills in image processing and online platforms.
  • Experience in organising events (online, on-site or hybrid), and in customer service is an advantage
  • 2-3 years of studies in a relevant field (communications, marketing, business, natural sciences or related subject)in a university or in an applied university

As a person, you have a positive mindset, can-do -attitude and you are comfortable working in English in an international environment. You are self-oriented and learn new things quickly, especially new digital tools.

  • A full-time fixed-term position, from late May or early June until the end of September 2026. The conference takes place 15-17 September and the most hectic are the few weeks before it.
  • A monthly salary in range of 1800 to 2000 euros, plus travel costs to Sweden for the event.

The position is located in the ICOS Head Office in Helsinki, Finland. Remote work on 1-2 days per week outside of the busiest weeks can be agreed on.  A work permit in an EU country and ability to spend a week in Sweden is required. ICOS ERIC is an equal opportunity employer.
