Level 2 Ocean data release for 2025 now available

08 Apr 2026

Last week, ICOS Ocean Thematic Centre (OTC) published the final quality controlled Level 2 data release for 2025. The data release contains 116 datafiles from 12 labelled ICOS Ocean stations, and covers the period 1st January - 31st December 2025.

The data has been processed according to OTC’s data processing protocols using the web based quality control tool QuinCe.

As well as being published in the Carbon Portal, this fully quality-controlled data will feed into the Copernicus Marine Environment Monitoring Service (CMEMS) and the Surface Ocean CO₂ Atlas (SOCAT), from where they will contribute to the annual Global Carbon Budget report and other products for decision makers.

The data release contains quality controlled data for partial pressure of CO2 (pCO2) and ancillary data like sea surface temperature and salinity.

Ocean data releases can be used by a variety of users, such as modellers and other observational scientists.
