ICOS Science Conference, organised every second year by the ICOS community, is a global event open to scientists and other experts working in greenhouse gases and biogeochemical cycles. ICOS Science Conference 2026 will be organised on 15-17 September 2026 in Lund, Sweden and online. The overarching theme of the conference is “Science, Data, Services: Together for Climate Action”.
We are excited to invite the scientific and research community to propose sessions for the ICOS Science Conference 2026! For the first time this year to promote transparency and cooperation, the submitted session proposals will be visible on our website. The conveners are encouraged to check the submitted session list here before submitting their proposals in case of thematic overlap or gaps.
Click here to read more about the submission process and access the submission form.
The deadline for submissions is noon (12:00 CET) on Friday 24th of October, 2025.
We invite session proposals within the scope of (but not limited to) the themes mentioned below:
- Greenhouse gas (GHG) observations and carbon budgets
- Effects of land-use and land-use change and management to GHGs
- GHG variability and extreme events (storms, droughts etc.)
- The carbon cycle linking land, ocean and atmosphere
- Urban GHG observations
- Satellites and remote sensing of GHGs
- Integrating Research Infrastructures (RIs) to national GHG inventories
- Novel, emerging and low-cost technologies and methods in GHG observations
- GHG modelling (machine learning, neural networks, earth system modeling, AI tools)
- Climate action services and climate policy
- Carbon credits, carbon removal certification and carbon dioxide removal (CDR)
- GHG and social sciences (impact)
- Collaboration and knowledge sharing between RIs and other, emerging monitoring networks
- Development of RI networks in regions with limited observational coverage
If you have any enquiries about the submission process, or need to make changes to your submitted proposal, please contact the organising team on conference@icos-ri.eu.
