
As part of the ICOS 10-year anniversary celebrations, attendees have the opportunity to visit one of two ICOS Finland stations. Excursion participants will get an opportunity to stay at the station overnight, have a tour of the facilities and learn about the station history and current research from the station hosts.

ICOS Ecosystem and Atmosphere station Hyytiälä
Hyytiälä forest station is an ICOS atmosphere and ecosystem station hosted by the University of Helsinki, part of the ICOS Finland National Network. Hyytiälä station is a site for comprehensive measurements of ecosystem – atmosphere interactions and a co-location of ICOS, ACTRIS, eLTER and AnaEE Research Infrastructures.
Programme
Thursday 27 November:
- 14:00 Departing Helsinki (University of Helsinki main building)
- 17:00 Arrival in Hyytiälä
- 17:30 – 18:30 Introductory lectures
- 18:30 – 19:30 Dinner
- 19:30 – 20:30 Additional lectures or networking
- 20:30 onwards Sauna
Friday 28 November:
- 8:00 – 9:00 Breakfast and leaving rooms
- 9:00 – 11:30 Field excursion (note: please pack appropriate clothing for Finnish November weather)
- 11:30 – 12:30 Lunch
- 13:00 Departing Hyytiälä
- 16:00 Arrival in Helsinki city centre (with a stop at Helsinki Airport)
Cost
The Hyytiälä excursion costs €165 per person for a single-occupancy room or €140 per person for a shared 2-4 person room. The cost includes the transport from Helsinki and back, overnight accommodation, 3 warm meals (dinner on 27.11, breakfast and lunch on 28.11), sauna, and walking tour of the station facilities. To keep the costs to the participant reasonable, we have reserved a limited number of spots. These will be filled up on a first come first served basis and the only way to guarantee a spot is to pay for it.
Terms of payment
- The link to payment form is sent to everyone who expressed interest in an excursion in their ICOS 10 rsvp form.
- The payments are processed through Oxford Abstracts and require the participant to create a free account to access the payment form (It is the same payment system we use for ICOS Science Conference so you can use your existing login details if you have them).
- More than one booking can be made with the same login details if you are booking for a group.
- If booking a bed in a shared room you can add the name of the person you wish to share the room with in the payment form.
- Payment is only possible with credit or debit cards and the system will automatically generate a receipt/proof of payment.
- The payment is non refundable. In case your travel plans change, you can email us on info@icos-ri.eu to request a participant name change and give your spot to a colleague. Please do so before the registration deadline on November 9th 2025.

ICOS ocean and ecosystem station Tvärminne
Tvärminne zoological station is an ICOS ecosystem and ocean station hosted by the University of Helsinki. Tvärminne is the largest coastal research station in the northern Baltic Sea and a co-location of ICOS, EMBRC and eLTER Research Infrastructures.
ICOS 10 Excursion participants will get an opportunity to stay at the station overnight, have a tour of the facilities and learn about the station history and current research from the station hosts.

- 14:00 Departing Helsinki (University of Helsinki main building)
- 16:00 Arrival in Tvärminne and settling in
- Introductory lecture about the history of Tvärminne zoological station
- Dinner
- 19-21 Sauna
Friday 28 November:

- 11:00-13:00 Lunch
- 13:00 Departing Tvärminne
