At the Carbon Portal we are developing tools for our Web Map Service (WMS) service.
Web Map Service is a OGC standard for transferring geographical map images that are generated by a map server. Our map server is Thredds, that provides metadata and data access for scientific datasets.
This is an early example of our GIS application where you can visualize datasets combined with layers of geographical information. You can play around by picking one of the available datasets (called service here), and then select a variable and date and you will get a spatial visualization of the combined data. The Gamma setting represents the intensity of values in the image.
